• Koka: is no longer valid as a score. But normally resulting with just a knock down technique.
  • Yuko: will be scored where a throw of better quality has been attempted resulting in uki landing more on his body rather than just on his bottom or knees.
  • Wazari: is scored when uki is thrown with a further clear throw resulting with uki landing on his /her side body.
  • Ippon: is scored when uki is thrown clearly on his / her back, and whereupon Tori has shown to throw with clear speed and control.
  • Wazari-Awasete-Ippon: Where the referee has scored two Wazari he shall call Wazari Awasete Ippon 10 point win by accumulation of two 7 score wins. (Wazari is the only score that is allowed to be accumulated).
  • Yusei-Gachi: where no score has been awarded to any of the two contestants the referee will award Yusei-Gachi as a one point decision win to the competitor who has shown to attack more or dominate the contest.
  • Sogo-Gachi: Where a contestant has been penalised with 3 penalties (Shido, Chuwi and Kikokou) the referee will retire the contestants to the centre of the mat and award Sogo-Gachi (ippon to the winning contestant who has not incurred any penalties).
  • Osaekomi: Shall be called when a contestant is holding and controlling his/ her opponent by holding them on their back with controlling both shoulders towards the mat.
  • Toketa: Hold down Broken is called when the contestant escapes from the hold down by raising the shoulders of their opponent off the mat, or managing to control Tori’s legs by entanglement.
  • Hantai: In the event that the contest time elapses but with no score recorded, or the scores of the contestants are equal, the referee will decide on a Decision wins to the contestant who is judged to be of superstar character or has been the most domineering contestant; there may be a fine line between winner and loser.
  • If a decision cannot be made then additional contest time may be requested for further contest.
