Primary Syllabus

All primary grades are required to wear a red coloured belt, with coloured tags to show their grades.

The Primary grading pathway is as follows:

It is important that only one grade is awarded at each grading, and that jumping of grades is not permitted at this stage.
All of the required syllabus techniques are to be demonstrated to an appropriate level and it is intended that the level of examination should become greater in depth as the student progresses through their grades.
It is intended that the syllabus for the Primary group is limited to their age and ability, so supplementing the examination with a deeper emphasis on etiquette, ukemi, holding, breaking of balance, and additional terminology be applied.
The examiner may also ask questions from a previous examination. This will help further assess the ability and capability of the student.
